Renfrew St Gerringong
This house in Gerringong was transformed from basic beach shack to a luxurious contemporary home with a Balinese resort flavour by Grant Taylor Building Solutions. The original two-story cottage has been completely reworked, with all bedrooms moved to the lower floor allowing for expansive open plan living areas plus a bathroom and study on the upper floor, leading to a wide verandah at the rear.
With new extensions to either side, and the addition of a new double garage, the house has been encased in a mixture of Colourbond, rendered blue board and Customorb, while timber details, such as the entry portico and upper-level balcony, are in recycled timber from an old local railway bridge.
The owner, who imports furnishings from India and Indonesia, has added tropical resort elements such as koi ponds, granite waterfalls, and outdoor bathroom and a formal courtyard decorated with lavastone statures and lanterns leading to separate guest quarters at the rear of the site. Inside, new jarrah floors throughout complement carved Indian and Balinese doors and furniture.
